What a year we have had. Coming out of a record breaking centennial year, in every sense of the meaning; there was a lot of speculation about how this year would play out. Could lodges build off of the success of the previous year? Will people be burnt out? Have we hit our climax as an organization? These past months answered all of those questions and more, showing that not only have we not reached our climax, but the best is yet to come.

Are you interested in becoming a future leader in your chapter, lodge or region? Look no further than the Order of the Arrow’s National Leadership Seminar. The National Leadership Seminar (NLS) is a weekend-long intensive leadership development course unlike any other in the Boy Scouts of America or the Order of the Arrow. NLS is the Order of the Arrow’s top training seminar open to all Arrowmen.

In mid-September at Camp Alpine, NJ, roughly 100 Arrowmen took a pledge to Challenge the Ordinary during one of the premier leadership events the Northeast Region has to offer; the Gathering of Leaders (GOL). During the event, section officers and advisers took part in various team building activities - all while collaborating with their counterparts around the region.

The Order of the Arrow High Adventure (OAHA) program was established for Arrowmen to have the opportunity to experience the happiness that lies in forgetfulness of self through serving Boy Scouts of America’s high adventure bases. The OAHA Program was established by three gentlemen: Marty Tschetter, Eugene “Gene” Schnell and Edward Pease when they were trying to find a way to revamp the OA program. This was done to provide another outlet for the OA to serve the Boy Scouts of America program, while providing a chance for youth OA members to experience the high adventure bases at a discounted rate.
